Napoleon Total War

Spent this morning trying to recreate some of the drama of the 6 Days Campaign of 1814 while playing Napoleon Total War. I will post the order of battle I used later this evening.

Map and commanders: I ended up selecting the Waterloo map (great resemblance to French countryside) and played as Napoleon squaring off against the Prussian General Blucher and the Russian Corps commander Sacken. (For Sacken I used a Russian General Staff unit)

Units: Outnumbered two to one, I relied on heavier, more experienced infantry and cavalry units against a much larger army with twice as many cavalry units.

Tactics and outcome: I deployed my two artillery units on my right flank as a way to slow down the opposing force while I concentrated my infantry and cavalry on my left flank as a way to outnumber the opposing corps. Unfortunately for me, the Allied AI commander concentrated forces almost immediately and forced my army to fight two corps at once. I was also unable to deploy my heavier guns in time as they had to work their way around an impassable gully which I didn't notice.

Despite that, my two heavy cavalry units were able to replicate much of their historical success under Groucy on my artificial battlefield and keep things even until my infantry units were ultimately overwhelmed by Russian musketeers and Prussian Dragoons.
