Late Night Empire

Played a little Empire Total War this evening. Trying to recreate some American Revolutionary war battles. Fought the Battle of Gowanus Heights on the Anatolia map.

Played as the British (who historically routed the Americans when they landed on south coast of Long Island and drove inland). In the end we had the same result, but for awhile things were in doubt.

American troops had the high ground and rolled in my skirmishers (Green Jackets and Ferguson Light Infantry) with a mix of Horse units and a swarm of Continental regulars.

They then bayonet charged my lines of infantry which forced me to deploy and rely on two regiments of Black Watch regulars (one on each flank) to prevent my horsehoe defense from turning into an encirclement. Just as I was withdrawing the Watch from my left flank, a mix of Minuteman and Long Rifleman attacked through a forest they had been moving through unseen.

The Black Watch and my Rifles returned fire on the units and broke them up one by one as they emerged from the forest. The battle ended with Continental Army fleeing the field.
